Multifunctional Operating Room Components Simplify the Space and Increase Efficiency
Operating Room Design Principles

Develop components which are multifunctional and eliminate duplication.

The walls, floor, operating table and ceiling are all multifunctional.  Multi-purpose components reduce the number of machines in the operating room, freeing up valuable space.

As the number of components reduces, the room simplifies.
As the room simplifies, efficiencies multiply.

For example, the operating table heats the patient and carries the wires and hoses,  eliminating the need for a separate heating machine, and removing safety hazards from the floor. Duplicate monitors are combined into large wall-mounted data information displays. Walls also contain ambient lighting, garbage disposal, and sterilization elements.  Floors handle wires, cables and robotic cleaning devices.
