Operating Table - New Design Improves Positioning, Access, Safety and Sterility
Components

Modified patient table

  • Fixed to the floor: acts as the center of focus of the room. The room is designed around this focal point. All components of the room are designed to enhance and simplify the area of focus
  • Rotating tabletop 270° design allows for heavier patients, greater tilting, cantilevering capabilities, and greater tabletop extension
  • Wiring, vacuum, and gas hoses are incorporated into the architecture of the table rather than tracking over the operating room floor or hanging from the ceiling
  • Tabletop is constructed of radiolucent TiO2 solid surface materials, replacing the standard "bakelite" components. The surface can be easily cleaned and sterilized with low level UV light. The CDC recommends against porous material being used in the operating room environment
  • The padding on the table is made of a composite fabric that allows for both heating of the patient, and real-time local temperature feedback for the anesthesiologist
  • Optimus is working with Designspring to develop a metal detection/RFID sponge detection device as part of the operating tabletop
